About Ramanathaswamy Temple
On the island of Rameswaram, this temple is both a Jyotirlinga and one of the four Char Dham, where Lord Rama is believed to have worshipped Shiva to atone for the war at Lanka. Famed for its breathtaking 1,200-pillared corridors — the longest of any Hindu temple — and 22 sacred theerthams in which pilgrims bathe before darshan.
