At 3,800 m in Nepal's Mustang region, Muktinath is a sacred 'Mukti Kshetra' — a place of liberation revered by Hindus and Buddhists alike. Pilgrims bathe under its 108 stone water-spouts and before the eternal flame, seeking moksha at one of the 108 Divya Desams of Bhagwan Vishnu.

Jomsom Airport (about 20 km), reached via Pokhara Airport (PKR); flights are weather-dependent.

Nearest Railway

Nepal has no rail to Mustang; pilgrims fly to Jomsom or drive/trek from Pokhara, then continue by jeep, pony or on foot to Muktinath.

Best Season

March to June and September to November; the high passes can be snowbound and access difficult in deep winter.

Dress Code

Warm layered clothing is essential year-round at altitude; modest, respectful attire for darshan. Acclimatise before visiting.

How to reach

From Pokhara, fly or drive to Jomsom, then take a jeep up to Ranipauwa and walk the final stretch uphill to the temple at about 3,800 m.
