About Temple in the Sea, Waterloo
Built single-handedly by labourer Sewdass Sadhu into the Gulf of Paria, Trinidad's Temple in the Sea is reached by a causeway from Waterloo. A moving testament to faith and perseverance for the Caribbean's Hindu diaspora.

February–MarchThe great night of Shiva is the temple's most significant observance, when devotees gather along the causeway shrine to offer prayers and jal to Bhagwan Shiva by the sea.

Modest dress; footwear is removed before entering the shrine. The causeway can be breezy and damp.
How to reach
About an hour's drive south of Port of Spain to Waterloo on the west coast, then a walk along the causeway out to the temple.
